Honeycomb Heart Center is an in-home Preschool and Kindergarten program. School days consist of art (guided and process), outdoor play (rain or shine), sensory experiences, community, character-building, and more. Children will learn and grow through curiosity, joy, and experiences in a structured and safe environment.

Hi! I’m Mrs. Melissa.

I am the owner, director, and teacher at Honeycomb Heart Center. I’m a mother of two fun and loving little girls and an experienced preschool teacher. For the past 13 years, I have taught Pre 3 Environmental Art, Music, Drama, Spanish, and Practical Life at a private school. I have a BA in Cultural Studies from the University of New Orleans and I am certified in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration. As a part of my continued education, I am enrolled in a 12-month Wonder-Led Certification Program.

In my experience, Art and Play are where the magic of learning happens. Year after year, I’ve noticed an increasing need for child-led play and learning. That is why I’ve decided to start a home-based Preschool and Kindergarten program. My goal is to give children the opportunity to learn and grow in an art-centered and heart-centered environment.

Honeycomb Heart Center has a designated space within our family home, with a large dedicated classroom area, a spacious yard fully equipped for gardening and adventure play. Our curriculum will mainly consist of Scholastic’s Let’s Find Out, art, messy play, and outdoor time.
